I've just installed a Panasonic TC-P50X1 plasma television and I'm having a problem with the picture. I should note that I've installed all of the a/v components in a closet 50 feet from the television. I used component video from the closet to the television(because the television is only capable of displaying 720p and my receiver only switches component video). I purchased the component cable from an ebay merchant at a very low price. (19.50) It claims to have triple sheilding and is made with RG59. The picture problem is most noticeable when there is for instance black text on a white background or vice versa. When the television displays this there is a shadow/streak of the same color as the text from the text all the way to the right side of the television. I'm guessing it's due to poor shielding from the cheap component cable. The problem also seems to be more noticeable on SD content. I've since ordered a 30 dollar 50 foot "premium" component cable from monoprice to combat the problem. The cable from monoprice is said to be made with RG-6 and claims the sheilding is "up to par". Is this cable sufficient? I'm not interested in spending hundreds of dollars on a cable if I don't have to. After doing research, some folks have said RG6 cannot support the bandwith of HD? I've bypassed my home theater receiver(Elite 54tx) so I know it's not the receiver's video switching or processing. I know the way to confirm the problem would be to hook the directv receiver directly to the television with another shorter cable, but that involves dissassembling the component stack and a lot of work. I'm rambling, but I wanted to cover all bases. Please let me know what may be causing this and what I should do to remedy it. Thank you

I've replaced the cables with monoprice's "premium" 50ft component and the problem was solved. The picture actually looks like it improved in clarity.

Moral to your story, not all cables are created equal, especially when having to make a long run. Monoprice is a great source for good quality cables and are no more expensive and often cheaper than other cables that are inferior. Glad you were able to work out your issue. :)
