I usually play the 360 on a patio on a LCD monitor and bring it back inside after use i was wondering if it would be safe to leave it sitting on the patio. Currently the temp outside ranges from 15-25 celsius? Thanks

No way in the world I'd leave any electronics outside, regardless of temperature. A slight rise in humidity could spell death for it.

Why not get some longer A/V cables and leave it inside the patio door?

I don't know about humidity, but there could be other concerns... Sunshowers and insects would be two things I'd be worried about.

Just wrap it in Saran Wrap. Then you could take it into the hot tub with you as well.

I think it would depend on a lot of things. Like are you leaving in on a table?
Where do you live?
Are there many insects?
How long?
Hours?days? year?

I would have to agree with the others generally and say get longer cables and wireless controller.

If you do this quite a bit, and depending on the construction of your house, you could put an I/O panel that runs through the wall, then you could just plug your 360 A/V cables on the inside panel and then run an set to your monitor from the outside panel. Would be neater than running cables out the door or a window.

I have a complete outdoor system - 32" sammy, Pio AV receiver and PS3 - but it is enclosed within somewhat tight mohogony cabinets.

The stuff stays out all winter - the cabinets are heated.

OP: I have a nice Onkyo AVR that I leave outside in a shed 24/7/365. The shed is just aprimitive wooden unit with a good roof. I live in MA, so it goes through extremes of humidity and temperature; but it hasn't had a single issue after nearly 2 years.

All that being said, the XBOX is obviously very sensitive to overheating...

If a bug crawled/flew inside the 360 and killed it can you call MS and complain it has a bug? :p

Seriously, I will not put a 360 outside, at least not for hours. It is not designed to withstand the elements.

Too risky. My vote is no way.

One word: Motherboard full of fried cockraches and mosquitos. OK, that's two words, but...I bought a used Dreamcast from Gamestop once, that apparently was an "outdoor" unit. I opened it to fiddle with the laser and it was like the day after insect armageddon. Nasty, nasty stuff. Couldn't handle it, and tossed it in the trash.

I doubt it was an outdoor unit....it was probably just in a nasty house.

I've played 360 outside, but it was a summer time treat at and I dragged everything in and out that day.
and nothing was on the ground.

very cool TJ. Looks like you built that yourself. No way are you buying a cabinet of that build quality anywhere.

Thanx - building it myself was the only way.

The black box in the lower front is a cheap polk sub that i turned to fire down through a hole in the bottom of the cabinet - HVAC filter material over the hole keeps the bugs outa my sub.

There is also a 6" fan behind the sub that exhausts hot air out the bottom of the cabinet; the air intake is also in the bottom, in front of the PS3. you can see the divider separating the in/out under the cabinet. The receiver is also ventilated out the bottom.

The rotary control on the left can slow down the fan if i feel it's too noisy.

The harmony 890 stay in the house so i dont even need to unlock the lower doors for radio or TV.
