I'm hoping for a U.S. release of BOUND sometimes soon, but doubt it will happen. There is a French and now a Japanese release, but the inexpensive French BD has 50i stuff before the film loads, which will crash PS3's and numerous BD players here in the states. :mad:

Will have to somehow be patient. BOUND is a huge favorite of mine and every bit as good as the Wachowski's biggest hit, The MATRIX.

Also reviews are Three Kingdoms, Children of Men, The International and Highlander.

Thanks Matt. I've been looking for more info on the UK release of Three Kingdoms as it's a lot cheaper than the Chinese release and reviews of the film have been too mixed for me to justify the chinese import price. The review linked still didn't offer a comparison, but it at least confirmed the absence of region coding and indicates its the same cut.

I'm a sucker for epics myself. Have you seen the HK release of An Empress and the Warriors? The UK version appears to have been trimmed based on amazon's specs. That's the only other title I'm undecided on. I just received the UK edition of Battle of Wits today (1/2 the price of the HK edition and supposedly slightly better PQ according to the only reviewer I've found that's seen both) and I'll be ordering the HK versions of Red Cliff (1&2) and Warlords as soon as I figure out which versions of Empress... and 3 Kingdoms to go with.

BOUND was on cable in HD the other day and man oh man, that transfer is horrendously out of date. :eek: Tons of gate weave, flickering and obvious gamma issues.

Still trying to find out if the latest Sony firmware corrects it's stupid "I won't play any PAL or 50i content" problem that causes this foreign BD and others to crash. Having firmware 2.6 or eariler = this BD works. Having any later firmware (as I do) = no go.

The French BD is affordable, so I'd really like to import it. :mad:

And I just found out CRIMSON RIVERS is out on BD too! But does it have any PAL or 50i content prior to the film loading? No idea. Won't risk it. :mad: :mad:

The latest PS3 firmware does indeed fix the 1080i/50 and PAL issues. US PS3s still will not PLAY those resolutions, but they will skip past such segments to the next supported resolution segment.

It was reportedly fixed as of firmware 3.00, but I haven't personally confirmed whether or not discs will work.

Does this mean I can finally import HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS?!?!?! Oh, wait, that is region whatever, so maybe not. :( But if I can import a slew of other French and British releases, I am going to be one happy camper this Christmas!!

UPDATE: I just chanced it and placed an order for both BOUND and CRIMSON RIVERS through the French Amazon. Hopefully I will have them in under two weeks.

So BOUND and CRIMSON RIVERS arrived today. But NORTH BY NORTHWEST and SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE also arrived. LOVE ACTUALLY will be here tomorrow or Friday.

What the hell am I supposed to watch first?! Ho can I possibly watch even half of them this weekend with boxing on HBO Saturday night?!
