As the title suggests, Ive got TWC and they game me the Scientific Atlanta cable 8340-HDC.

The problem Im having is this. From channel to channel and even from programming to commercial the sound volume can vary wildly. When changing channels it not as big of a deal even though it can as much as double or drop to inaudible. When its really annoying is on commercials. Now hold on to your hat because Im about to complain about commercials being too quiet. For some commercials its almost like they have no sound.

It does seem to be worse for the HD channels but its not exclusive to them.

My setup:
SA 8240-HDC connected to a Samsung HT-BD1250 via optical cable and connected to a LG 47LH90 via HDMI cable.

Any ideas, questions, insults, or help will be gladly accepted.

Ok, maybe Ill just tolerate the insults...

I experience the same with cable and OTA.
No volume consistency from channel to channel or from program to commercial to commercial to commercial (on same channel).

Best I can suggest is complain to the cableco and/or local broadcast affiliates.

And... I don't even use a cable box. ;)

I have the same problem with a Scientific Atlantla cable box and Time Warner. Seems to be a common problem with sound using HDMI or optical audio. You will get more consistency but poorer sound using red and white audio cables.

check Audio settings on box, under Audio Range, Narrow keeps vol level constant between channels, Wide works best for external surround sound systems. also try diff Digital Audio Out options, i leave mine on hdmi but other options may work better for your setup.
