Hey all, I am a long time lurker first time poster.

I am getting a new house and it is too small for my HD70 projector so I sold it and am planning on buying a flat panel to replace it once we move in. The closing date is Nov 20th and I have noticed Kuro stock seeming to dry up...

I am really looking at getting a 500m and with the 600m already very hard to find, how much longer will I be able to get a new 500m for the ~1700 or less price I can find them for now?

Thanks!
Brandon

I'd move on that now.

I would... but I have a wedding on oct 31st and do not have the money to do this any earlier... Is there hope or are the chances pretty high that I will be SOL come Nov?

If The kuro's are OOS What is the next best option at the 1500-1700 price range? I'd like at least 50" but really want the best PQ I can get for the price.

Panasonic V10 Series or G10 Series if you dont watch many BluRay, or are not concerned with 24p

No knock on you, but I'm wondering why people keep saying stuff like this. Since I've had my 54S1, which hasn't been long, I've popped in a few Blu-Ray's and they look spectacular. I understand it doesn't have 24p support, but everything is looking great so far other than my HDMI cable issue, but that's another story.

Common sense says, Till it isn't.

BB still (I wonder why?) has a couple of hundred of the Elites 151 in stock as of last week. They are to be marked as dscountinued at the end of October. At that time I'd expect them to go for 4K or even less.

Probably because they still have a ridiculously high price tag on them. When I asked them for their best price, they refused, but said they'd match another local authorized dealer.

I told them I know of one who's selling it for $2000 less, but why would I go to the bother of doing a price match, when I could just buy it from the dealer with the reasonable price?

Sadly you will find too many people on this forum simply repeat what someone else has said or what they read. Reality is 24p support isnt a show stopper for watching BR movies.

If you are truly concerned about what BR playback will look like on a set you are interested in purchasing. Then hook a BR player up to it and watch a movie. Dont just fall for the "I read it on the internet" scheme. After all your the one spending $1000's of dollars to make the choice that works best for you, not someone else. And any salesman will be more than happy to assist you in that, considering the size of the transaction involved.

What I've found on this forum in the 9 years I"ve been a member is far too many people read into specifications and technical stats. When its the overall experience that matters most. Either you are pleased with the picture and/or sound or you arent. And in most cases only you can answer that question for yourself.

I'm still amazed at the amount of people who absolutely believe they must have a Kuro in order to have a great picture. There are definitely many other competitive options available.

Oh, I've enjoyed Blu-Ray movies on my 768p Pioneer (which can accept a 1080p24 input, btw), but darned if I'd buy a 1080p TV that didn't support 1080p24 correctly or one that threw away half the resolution.

People naturally want their toys to do what they're supposed to do.
