Hi,

Just recently got this box (Explorer 3250HD) from TWC and noticed that it had two firewire ports on the back of it.

I have a Digital Video tape deck that has a firewire port that I use for DV editing and video transfer from my camera.

I connected the cable box to the deck, but I can't seem to get a picture from my monitor. The signal is not being sent from the cable box to the deck.

I searched through the cable box menus for a setting that enables/disables the firewire ports, but I couldn't find any. Is there a service menu for the cable box that may have that setting and if so, how does one access it? TWC didn't know what I was talking about when I called them. Nothing on the Cisco site either.

Thanks,

John

They're designated in the manual as being "future use", which means they're inactive and don't work with any current configuration. I don't think there is a way to activate them, short of being on Cisco's in house engineering staff.

Follow-up:

My computer recognizes it immediately as a Scientific Atlanta 3250HD. My DV deck is the problem. Won't interface with it I guess.
