I have a Terminator 2 vinyl 10 foot by 3 foot poster that I would like to
frame and put it on the back wall of my media room. I have had no luck
finding a solution.

Any advice appreciated.

That sounds more like a banner. Something that size you have to have custom built or DIY. Either way I'd say its going to cost some $$.

You might want to consider mounting it on wood. I've seen posters at Blockbuster that aren't framed, but merely mounted typically on black wood with a slight curved border to the wood mounting. I have no idea if a wood shop or frame shop would offer this service...the weight maybe too much too (10ft).

Another option is drymounting the banner at a frame shop...it wouldn't be framed, but it would allow you to mount it on the wall for less money and less weight.

what do you mean when you say slightly curved?

I don't mind a DIY solution, but I'd need some pointers.
I basically would like a back to it that allows me to stretch it
wrinkle free and then a glass like overlay on top. Could be plastic
to lower weight.

I used to run a custom frame shop in a former life and I would suggest you DIY. I have done some similar things in the past.
1. framed a LARGE piece of ceiling tin. Attached it to some 1/4" birch, then wrapped it with some off the shelf moulding from HD and Lowes.
2. Framed a LARGE (7x9)mirror over a fireplace. I used 1x6 and off the shelf moulding to give the frame some "weight". Then I faux finished it with a crackle finish to age it. Its been done ten years and looks awesome.

Go to a big box home improvement store get some 1/4 to 1/2" ply. Use some metal braces to attach the two pieces together to get to your 10' legenth. If you want a heavy frame add the width of the frame to the dimensions of the "backer" board so you can attach whetever "frame" you come up with.

Btw the dry mount is a good idea but with the available equipent they would have to do it in sections and slide through the machine which would cause wrinkles between the sections.

Good luck.:)

check out the screen building forums for idea. You are essentially building the same kind of thing.
