Hey guys, I was wondering if any one knew of any distros that support the ati x800 AIW? It will display everything until the GUI is loaded up, then the tv goes blank. I have a monitor hooked up to vga, and the tv hooked up to component cables. Or, do you know where i can find linux drivers/support for it?
Thanks!

I jest ... it sounds like the framebuffer driver (for whatever operating system you are using) is working fine, but once you get to the loading of the X driver, you run into settings problems.

There are several drivers for ATI graphics adapters under Linux. You'd likely be most interested in:
- the open source radeon driver which ships with the kernel, and hence is part of every distro.
- the proprietary flgrx driver from ATI (I'm sure you'll be able to find it from the source or from one of your disto's package repos.)

- the closed source ATI driver won't support the tv tuner ... and come to think of it, it might not even provide support back far enough to cover your particular card ... the bastards!

- the radeon driver, on the other hand, should work ... you will have to look into your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file settings if you are having trouble booting into the X server (meaning you might have to boot to the commandline and do the editing from there before you boot into the graphic envirnoment provided by X ... here's where a little google research will come in handy to see what video settings other people are using for that card and which might be adapted for your own setup needs ... you may even want to change the driver currently set in xorg.conf to the fbdev just so that you can boot into X and figure things out from there with getting the radeon driver running ... don't expect the tv-out connection to work at this point in time
- I don't think the tv tuner for that AIW model will be supported ... look through the messages on the gatos mailing list to see if they ever added support for it before that project sort of trailed off .. if they did, it will be native to the kernel
