Hi. My mom wants to edit my graduation DVD. It is a 3 hour straight DVD video and she wants to shorten it to 1 hour.
She's a total noob ... please help her. She's not tech friendly. But I am. So if you guys recommend she wait for me to come home on vacation to do it on a computer please post that (and let me know which program you guys recommend. ... Adobe Premier??)
Is a DVD Editing software program the way to go or a DVD Recorder?
Nothing fancy ... just cut out stuff and join the rest together.

Download the trial version of Video Redo. Simple, easy to use and chomp unwanted parts from video-including burned discs made on dvd recorders.
http://www.videoredo.com/en/index.htm
Copy the graduation dvd to the pc...Open Redo, and loasd the copied file. After you edit, you can create a simple menu, and burn it to disc with it as well.

Thank you!
Two real quick questions:
1.) will the DVD quality be downgraded with this program or stay the same
2.) will the trial program "stamp" the video with it's logo or something dumb like that (is it a time based trial ... do i actually have to buy it?)
Thanks!!

The trial version lasts about 2 weeks, and IIRC, there wasn't a watermark left on the completed dvd (the last time I used it, which was over a year ago). It's free to use during that period.
Video quality of the edited material was identical to the original.

Hey, I heard a lot about Sony Vegas, it's a great vdeo editing program, try that, it wll really help your Mom.:D
Adobe Premier??
premiere is a professional editing system that costs a couple thousand bucks. this is not what you want just to cut together a single project.
honestly, if you dont know anything about video editing, i would find someone who does. yes, there is some software out there that can supposedly do this very easily, but i really dont trust it. i have been a video editor for tv and film for years now, using some software that people have never heard about. every time i try to show someone how to do simple edits, they lose their mind.
