Brand XYZ or brand 123 is always touting their inch thick or 2 inch thick TV.

Why does any of this matter, when the cords stick out 2 inches from the back anyway? Making a low-profile wall mount nearly impossible. Even when the plug in point is recessed......they still stick way out.

I guess you can run them inside the wall, but for apartment dwellers, this is not an option.

Some have plugs that point down instead of out.

For people hanging tvs the goal is to get it to look like a picture frame. Although it wouldn't matter to me since I use a tv stand, I can see how how as thin as possible can be important to some.

I guess you didn't see the wall mounts for the new Samsung LED LCDs.

Samsung was smart enough to have their HDMI ports point sideways in a channel on the back of their plasmas. Panasonic has the HDMI ports point straight back, except for one port that is on the side of TV and very visible. Pretty stupid design if you ask me. I just got a Samsung 58B860 for the family room and a Panny 50G15 for the bedroom. Not only is the body of the Sammy a lot thinner but I was able to use a slim wall mount (not Samsung's picture frame mount) resulting the TV being less than 2.5" from the wall. With my G15, I had to go w/ the regular wall mount since I didn't want an HDMI cable sticking out of the visible side part of the TV (plus I needed two of the ports) so that TV ends up sitting like 6-8" off the wall (didn't even bother to measure b/c it's so obvious). Huge difference in appearance. Fortunately the way my rooms lay out, I don't care so much about the TV being off the wall in the bedroom. But in the family room it is really important to be as close to the wall as possible which kind of killed any chance of me getting a Panasonic for that room. I have been experiencing "some" of the dreaded buzzing on the Sammy but unless it gets worse I'm willing to live with it rather than getting a 58" V10 b/c it just looks SOOOOO much better on the wall.

BTW, Panasonic's "thin" profile marketing of the G15/V10 is total BS. The top of the TV is a little thinner but the bottom where the mount goes is still almost 4" thick so it still hangs the same distance off the wall.

Panny makes great TVs but their aesthetics and design leave a LOT to be desired.

I like the thin TV's. I'm going to switch out one of my older Sammy plasma monster on the wall sticking out over 4"

I looked at that new Sammy LED/LCD TV and the picture hanging "wall-mount" they offer. It gives the TV a .85" clearance to the wall. All the plug-ins are sideways and the angled adapters will not work.

Also I asked about the power plug, it is angled as well, but the Samsung rep. told me they are working with the Powerbridge Solution to make a special thin-wall box that has recessed power and cable pass through to accomadate the tight clearances to manage the cables and power. He said they are introducing it late Oct.

What on earth does this have to do with cords that stick out 2 inches. They are still gonna stick out with this mount as well.

At the thickest point, The V10\G15 are about 1/2" thinner than the G10. Not much thinner, but thinner none the less. I don't think it refutes what you're saying. Just being technically correct.
