View Full Version : Hank on ABC
Stars Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser, Cheers).
I liked its pilot, and like Jeff Goldblum, I'd watch Grammer in just about anything. Don't know how they'll keep it fresh and somewhat original, but is already miles ahead of 'Jim.

I give it a couple of weeks. The stronger shows later in the evening may save it for a while, but the laugh track and really bad writing and thin characters will doom it. I love Kelsie, but he's 0-2 since Frasier left the building.
VisionOn 10-01-09, 03:15 AM Did nothing for me either. The cast didn't seem to have any chemistry at all, but at least I know where Zoe from Eureka went now.
Without a good script or original character to work with Kelsey Grammer has nowhere to go here. When I see Frasier in reruns it still makes me laugh and like all good comedy has some heart in there too. I don't see any evidence of that here.
Didn't they reshoot this pilot?
ENDContra 10-01-09, 06:56 AM The promos for this show were pretty indicative about how bad it was going to be (20 second spot with 2 seconds of clip). I watched most of "Back to You" because it actually was funny in a bit of a cheezy way. This wasnt funny at all. I can see why Kelsey Grammer was open to the idea of spinning off Frasiers character again.

I agree that Hank stank. The laugh track was so overbearing that I deleted my season pass and the recorded show after about 30 seconds. In the first seconds of the first scene there was uproarious laughter on the soundtrack although nothing that was even arguably funny had happened yet. Message to the creators of this turkey: the time of laugh tracks is long past -- thank God! If Hank survives, it will do so without me. Bye bye, gang.
Fast becoming my almost instant judgment standard for a new show: fake laugh track = death!
Bookworm 10-01-09, 10:40 AM My wife and I agreed on this one. We love Kelsey but what made "Frasier" great was the cast around him and he's on his own on "Hank". I also hated the annoying laugh track. Going to give it one more week and then will probably drop it if there isn't great improvement.
ZenithPete 10-01-09, 01:02 PM another failure for kelsey, middle is a classic compared to this

It was very rank. You can take that to the bank. That is no prank. No, I'm not on crank...
While it certainly wasn't great, I thought it was funny in spots. The scene in the "fire-bed" was hilarious. And it does look tough for this show, but it wouldn't surprise me if it lasted 'til the end of the season. Stranger things have happened; look at According to Jim....
Fair at best,I think it won its time slot.
WaTaGuMp 10-01-09, 07:49 PM Some of these rhymes are worst then the show, ok maybe not.
