My HD70 developed a blurry static diagonal-ish line from the top right to bottom left. It happened right after my wife vacumed with a new steam vacume so i am thinking the vibrations cracked the bulb. It is non uniform and has a yellowish tint to it. I will try to post a picture tonight. I am really hoping it is not a color wheel problem.

Take the bulb out and take a look. You should be able to see the color wheel through the bulb area also. You can lightly turn the color wheel with a sponge Q tip to see all the colors are ok.

Just thought of something, it's sounds like the vacuam placed a hair on the DMD. Try more vacuaming. Or you may have to open it up and spray compressed air towards the DMD.

A static line will not be the color wheel. As guitarman suggested, it is most likely something in the imaging chamber, requiring you to open the projector.
