I have used cablevision for many years and lately I have not been happy with the service. I have been wanting to switch to FiOS but it has yet to come to my area. I have heard a lot of good things about Direct TV's HD programming. I have heard that the picture is better and that it offers more channels in HD. My main frustration is with NHL center ice on cablevision. The one offered on cablevision does not come with HD broadcasts which defeats the purpose of buying the package. I checked on Direct TV's site and they seem to offer the HD games. Also, it appears that on Direct TV I can also watch MSG HD, MSG+ HD, and YES HD which I would not be able to watch if I eventually switched to FiOS. I'm not sure what to do about this.
I could not find a Cablevision thread. Anyone have any input?
Here is the Cablevision thread

but what is your question?
It sounds like you want to know about D* so why would you want to ask it in a Cablevision thread?

I wanted to know how the two compared. I have been a long time cable subscriber and I may switch to Direct TV, but I wanted to make clear how much more I would be getting (PQ, Package Offering, Equipment, Extras, etc.) I thought I put this under HDTV programming. I apologize if I put this in the wrong channel.

Well then here is who you might want to talk to, send him a PM.

DirecTV does have MSG-HD, MSG Plus-HD, and if you have the sports access package MSG Buffalo's Sabres home games in HD.
As of now you won't see Versus on DirecTV.
I've had both and have had PQ problems on both, rain fade on D*, lousy compression on Cablevision.
Lots more HD on DirecTV, especially if you subscribe to the sports packages or a sports access package ... and of course there is the NFL. A deal-breaker for many.
