Does that recessed mid array prevent lobing or something? What kind of dispersion issues might that cause, if any?

wow..

If I had to guess I would have said $25K..

pricey but a speaker that should not need any replacing for a very long time

Never underestimate the ability of Wilson audio to shock on the upside. I kinda like my Watch2 center more now and will be sticking with it. Also, Polaris aesthetics are leaving a little bit to be desired IMO. Hope it sounds great tho...

oh boy!

am i safe to assume that oneobgyn has on on a flight being air freighted to use in his system.

if this makes his system any better, next time i come over, i am certain the wife will run magnets over my amex card.

I heard it at McManiacs (who posted a few above this one) recently and it's really really good. Big improvement over his Watch centre.

this speaker integrates beautifully with the Maxx3's especially in the midrange - this is where it shines..

My one complaint is that it is larger than it needs to be as a center speaker - the tweeter now encroaches onto my screen - fortunately only on 16:9 material..

Wilson is promoting a pair of Polaris speakers as an option to the Maxx3 where space might be an issue - I would think more people have an issue with space below a screen vs height in a 2 channel setup..

For a stereo setup spend a bit more and get the Maxx3's..

Is Polaris big improvement over Watch2 also? To me Watch1 integrated very poorly with my Maxx2's but the 2 was vastly improved.

The Polaris is designed to essentially be a horizontally oriented Maxx III. Same tweeter, same midrange (ensuring a good timbre match), same dynamic capability, same frequency range. Just oriented to work in a BIG home theatre set-up (where presumably one with the cash to get one of these can plan the layout so that it does not block the screen......do we really need to criticize Wilson for it blocking someone's screen? I mean really...). So of course it will be a better match than the much, much smaller Watch II, which also uses older drivers that would not be in the same league as the updated Focal tweeter and Wilson's own co-developed midrange, now used in the X-2, Maxx, Sasha, & Sophia platforms. And for the love of Pete, can we stop picking on Wilson over the cost of their products? They are expensive for the same reason Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrarri and the like are expensive.....they are highly evolved, much researched, spare no expense type products built to a standard very, very few others even attempt. Those that do (MBL, Rockport, Magico, etc.) are also very, very expensive. If you want a cheaper speaker, quit looking at expensive speakers. I drive a '97 Nissan Maxima for crying out loud, but I don't whine about the fact that there are expensive cars in the world.
