Im wondering if messing with this PJ to much could damage it

Upon booting a few months back the lens cover door would open and then shut every 15th boot or so. That is because the bulb wouldnt strike.
I would wait for the fan to stop blowing and if retred it, it would strike and no problems.

Now about every 5th time the door opens and shuts and does the same when retrying it, until i pull the lamp out, and then put it back in.

Ive Heard many people having thermal issues with their PJ's, and able to fix the problem by depressing a thermal swith, when the z5 has overheated. My switch is not depressed and does not have seemed to have been triped(It does not feel like it ever poped up).

My lamp has between 575 - 600 hours on the bulb.
Kept well ventilated and has frequent filter cleanings.

1.) Should I reset the lamp counter iv'e heard this at higher usage works

2.) should I just replace the lamp..(ive heard even then this doesn't always
work)

3.) Considering a new PJ maybe mitsubishi hc5500 but havent done much research into it yet(funds are tight $$$)

I know this is old but not sure when you ended up doing....I had the EXACT same issue but mine was still under warranty at the time. This was sent and a new firmware was installed and no problem ever since. There was a way to solve this problem that was a step by step process. I assume you found these?!
