Hey Guys,
I just bought the Panny AE3000U and had a question about height placement. When testing the 2.35:1 and 1.78:1 memory setups I noticed when I would change from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1 lens memory the image would vertically shift off the screen. The only way to correct this would be to spin the vertical lens shift wheel manually until the image was back on the screen. When this was happening I had the projector sitting on top of a small table (again I was just testing).

My question is: Is there a height that I can mount this projector to avoid this vertical lens shift when changing from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1 memory functions? If not, this means I'm going to have to always manually shift the image via the vertical lens wheel which defeats the purpose of this being advertised as an automatic function... Please help.

Looks like you would need to mount so that the lens was in the exact middle of your screen.

Yeah I figured it out last night.... I can use the horizontal & vertical digital move option to center the image.

This subject has been discussed extensively in the AE3000 thread on the $3000+ forum. Basically you need to mount the projector so that the lens is mounted at a height that is between the top and bottom of your 2.35:1 screen. That is, do not mount the projector where the lens points to a spot above the top of the screen. Zoom in, zero digital vertical shift and adjust optical vertical lens shift and focus for 16:9 image. Save setting. Zoom out to view 2.35:1 image. Adjust vertical digital shift, horizontal lens shift and focus. Do not change vertical lens shift! Save setting. Done.
