The picture both tonight and last night is terrible on FSN RM HD on DirecTV. Appears to be 480i to me. Usually the station is top notch. I could watch the Dodger telecast but am a Rockies' fan. Anyone else notice the poor picture quality?

Are you sure it is HD?

FSN Rocky Mtn. has been doing some events in anamorphic 4:3 which is then expended out to 16x9. Don't have access myself to FSN RM right now so can't see what it is myself right now.

Could be given the quality of the picture. But why would FSM RM do that??

This is a local issue and should be in a local topic.

Cheaper. Sending a 4:3 anamorphic SD signal is cheaper then sending HD.

Extra Innings is available nationwide. People all over the country are watching this game.

Obviously they are not, because no one is replying, and most EI subs don't get it in HD.

The best chance of a reply is in a local forum.

I'm watching the Dodger broadcast on MLB Network HD, and it's HD.

They are getting the game. It is being broadcast nationwide on FSN Rocky Mountain HD for everybody who has MLB Extra Innings.

I was trying to confirm others' opinions of the quality of the video. Apparently it is being shown in 16:9 SD. Nobody is getting it in HD. However, the game was broadcast on an HD channel. Probably true that a local forum could answer the question better of why the video was so poor (why not in HD apparently). Interesting, nevertheless, to guage national interest of the game and its video quality. Apparently not much interest there.

Just because it is on an HD channel does not make it HD.

I have been able to confirm from my sources that the game was transmitted in 16x9 SD.

OK. Useful info. Apparently like Sunday Ticket then in only availale via satellite. That's why I said the broadcast was on DirecTV (Ken always wants specifics on broadcast source), and DirecTV is available nationwide.

Apparently. But that's extremely rare. SD is almost exclusively shown on the non -1 channel.

Thanks. So I guess FSN RM had 4:3 SD on its SD channel and 16:9 SD on its HD channel? Odd.

Yes. Not all that odd they have been doing it for a good number of games all season.
