Hi,

I recently replaced my motherboard by a new one, an AsRock 775i65G. Everything works fine, except for the firewire card / connection.

The problem is that the firewire connection is lost during capture. The only way to restore the connection is switching the camera off and on. This message is recorded by the event viewer once the connection is lost:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( Capture Device Service ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: [CDeviceServiceModule::RemoveFromMap]:
Removed device name Microsoft DV Camera and VCR
.

BTW, according to the device manager (of windows), the firewire card is ok (no conflicts and the driver has been signed by Microsoft).

Here are the specs of my setup:
- camcorder Sony hc94
- motherboard AsRock 75i665G, Pentium E2160 processor (dual core)
- PCI Firewire card, speed 400 Mbps
- 2 GB RAM
- OS is windows XP SP3

I already replaced the firewire cable by a new one. This didn't solve the problem.

Of course, the question is: how can get rid of this problem?

Found the solution myself. It turned out to be a bad firewire card. I replaced the firewire card by a new firewire card and now the connection isn't lost anymore.
