I have a panasonic dvd recorder wich used to work fine with my old sky box then i changed to sky plus and now i get cant record copyright protected come up when i try and record something is there a way to get round this or is it something sky do to stop you copying there programmes..

There's nothing you can do, short of changing providers or using a "video filter", which are discussed in this thread:

I don't know about Sky but in the US, satellite/cable providers are able to restrict what programs are recordable. My guess is your new box has more copyright protections than your old box.
From what input are your recording? Filters are available to remove CP from composite and S-video sources, not sure about SCART, if you're PAL make sure your filter is compatible with PAL, in the US some are some are not.

Its all done through scart il have to look into getting a filter see if that solves the problem....
