I have a Samsung LN40A650 TV. So far it has treated me great, but I am having an audio problem with it. I am trying to get a DTS signal passed through HDMI 1.3 to the Samsung LN40A650 and then optical out on that into my Logitech Z-5500 5.1 sound system. When I try to pass a DTS signal it gets turned into a 2.0 pcm signal and then the receiver will just virtualize the surround sound. Now if i send a Dolby Digital signal from my PS3 over HDMI the pass-through actually does work (Decodes a digital signal). I was wondering if this was a tv problem or what? Thanks for taking time to read this post and I hope it isn't too confusing.

No tv that I am aware of processes DTS. DTS is not part of the HDTV standard, only Dolby Digital.
Consider yourself forutunate... most TV's won't even "passthough" a DD bitstream.

I looked at the on-line owner's manual and found nothing about the audio capabilities. There are instructions on how to connect a DVD or BD player to the tv but nothing telling you how the tv handles the audio output from them.

You're going to have to use an optical connection directly to your Logitech setup in order to do DTS. Most likely your output device can support both an HDMI and optical connection simultaneously. And you might as well use that same direct optical connection for DD, too, especially if your Logitech setup has only one optical input. So, basically you just need to run the optical cable to the Logitech decoder from your output device instead of from the TV.

Well thanks for all of the responses guys, you were a great help. I figured that I would have to run an optical connection directly into the Z-5500 system but I was hoping there was another way. Thanks again for the reply's.
