I'm on the board of a community organization for a local urban park, and I have this idea of installing cameras so that neighbors can see what's going on in the park via the Web. So I'm looking into what's available.
I'm thinking that people could come to our website, and see a set of photos showing what's going on in the park at roughly that moment. Parents may want to know how crowded the playground is; soccer, basketball and volleyball players may want to know if a game's going on; on rainy days, is the flea market open and is the Farmer's Market area really muddy, etc.,
I'm not thinking of this as a security thing, where we'd need high-res pics of park users. I'm thinking about cheap low-res cameras taking wide-angle shots of particular areas.
My ideal would be a small, cheap camera that could be attached to a high tree, solar powered and wireless, that would snap a picture and upload it to a web location. Something we can install and leave be. Any suggestions or advice?
