2009 MLB AL Central 'One Game Play In' on TBS HD
Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins
Live from Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Metrodome, 5pm ET
1080i & DD5.1

The Scoop
After leading the AL Central since May, the Twins ended the season with a huge push, while the Tigers semi-collapsed, to end up with the exact same record after 162 games.

Exacerbating the Tigers woes, is the recent revelation that team star Miguel Cabrera was out drinking until 5-6am Saturday, same day as the game that could have put them in the playoffs. Cabrera's wife called police early Saturday morning after he got home, and while both have scratches on their faces, no charges have been filed.

Regardless of who wins, the team that advances has the unenviable task of facing the team with the best regular season record in baseball this year, the New York Yankees. That series begins in The Big Apple, tomorrow at 6pm.

Looks like Cabrera's Mickey Mantle-esque training diet is working out after all...

[BTW - Looks like TBS is short a couple of camera's of the full compliment as evidenced by no ISO on 1st base (error for run)]

Looking great on Comcast in Philadelphia.

Glad they do not have the strike zone graphic on the right side, I found it extremely annoying when there was a random box not going the entire length of the screen from top to bottom. Hopefully they agreed and took it out for the playoffs...

Did they have that box during the entire regular season? I only watched a couple games flipping through recently and noticed it.

Game looks great and the sound mix is fantastic. Really hear the crowd out of the surrounds. This bodes well for the playoffs.

Comcast North Shore Chicago.

Looks like Cabrera's Mickey Mantle-esque training diet is working out after all...The difference being Cabrera had a few days to get right, while Mantle usually had a few hours.

Apparently crowd is SUPER LOUD. But I don't hear it like I did during the past few Twins' games where the sound rocked the dome. Others?

Commercial shown in 2:35 to 1. That's a first. Wonder why not 16:9.

There have been lots of 2.35:1 commercials.

Not a good move to give an out only to take the bat out of Mauer's hands.

game looks awesome on DirecTV.

That ball definitely wasn't deep enough to try the sacrifice, oh well. Still an exciting game.

With two outs was a good gamble....took a great throw, and Casilla may have scored if he would have tagged up properly.

Epic game !!!! If this is a precursor to the post-season, we're in for a lot of fun...

Why don't they have a tiebreaker rule to avoid this situation?

:D

Never mind. The game just ended.

I always say you'll lose if you don't capitalize on the chances you have, and the Tigers did not do that tonight, or for the last few weeks of the season for that matter. The Twins deserved to win.

Looks like there is NOT going to be a lot of surprised Twins fans tonight Ken.

Good game by both teams.

Cablevision Long Island, NY

Looks great here
In the past the TBS games always looked subpar on Cablevision, but it could have been a local issue. Something was definately changed, as it looks better than before.

I always wondered that myself. You figure they play 162 games a season, plus these teams played each other 18 times this year.
But then again we would not be able to see exciting games like this.

How many runners did the Tigers leave on base tonight? 200? 250?

As a Mets and Tigers fan, I'm seriously thinking of giving up on baseball. Four years of historic collapses and pain. Just go beat the Yankees now Twins.

I would prefer the Sox beat the Yankees but as long as someone does that is fine by me

I noticed as soon as the game winning run came home, they immediatly pulled back on the volume of just the crowd roaring. BOOO! I love hearing that, it's like someone at the truck just faded it down big time. On our home broadcasts(CSN Philly) they do a great job of filling the surrounds with crowd/background noise, and leave the volume up after a win, one time I actually jumped when the fireworks went off through the rear speakers!:D

In the Tuesday night tiebreaker game, the announcers audio level kept drifting up and down. Seemed like the crowd noise was controlling the level.
