I just picked up a Sharp xv-z9000 from craigslist (the japanese version) and I was playing with component cables but with the PS3 set to play at 480p via composite connection. This worked fine, but didn't look too great.

I then set the PS3 to play with component cables at 1080i and every couple of seconds the screen goes blank. I tried at 720p, and it is the same story.

Is this the PS3? Is it the component cables? Is it the projector?

If it is, I can still return it to the guy.
