VOD service Vudu has added the Criterion Collection catalog to its roster of offerings, effective Oct. 7.
La Strada, Solaris and M are among the initial Criterion films available on Vudu’s set-top box or connected devices with Vudu built in, including the LG LH50 and PS80 HDTVs, LG BD390 Blu-ray Disc player, and Mitsubishi 249 series of HDTVs.
“Vudu’s mission to deliver the highest quality cinematic experience to its customers is consistent with the Criterion Collection’s mission,” said Jonathan Turell, co-founder of the Criterion Collection. “We’ve been impressed with Vudu’s quality.”
Well-known for being selective with which films it releases, Criterion has become synonymous with high-quality home entertainment, using the best films elements and top technical practices for its uncut releases.
“Vudu is excited to be adding these timeless classics from the Criterion Collection to Vudu’s already extensive catalog,” said Vudu CEO Alain Rossmann. “The Criterion Collection has a long history of delivering the most significant movies of our times from the highest quality video and audio source files available.”
