I just picked up a Harmony One which comes with the charging base. I have two 550's which do not have charging bases so I have never had to think about this. My question is. Is it OK to leave the Harmony One in the charging base when it is not being used. Does the base work like a slow charger on a car battery so that when the batteries are fully charged the charging base does not over charge the batteries and cause any problems with the batteries? Also if it is not OK to leave the remote in the charging base do I need to let the batteries run as close to empty as possible before charging? Do the batteries exhibit the battery memory problem if they are charged to early. In other words do they need to be cycled down before charging? Thanks for the help.

YOu should never leave anything in a charger for extended periods of time unless it is a smart charger, and at Harmony's price points, there is no way they are using smart chargers.

The Harmony One uses a Lithium-ion battery, which does not have the "memory" issues that many older re-chargeables have. There is lots of information on the subject here:

A quick search of the Logitech forums found some long time Harmony users who report leaving the remote in the cradle when not in use, with no problems, but also those who didn't like the idea of leaving the remote on the cradle.

Ultimately the choice is yours. I leave my 720 in the cradle, but thats the rule in our house, otherwise I'd never find it!;)
