I'm looking to get a harmony remote for my setup at home and am looking at the Harmony One, but seems to be a bit pricey. What other Harmony remotes would you guys recommend?

My setup is:
PS3 Slim...getting the Logitech PS3 adapter
Denon AVR-590 Receiver
Sharp Aquos TV

Not a crazy setup but want to make it as easy as possible for the wife.

Amazon.com or target. Look at the Harmony 620 or harmony 500 series. For that little of devices its not really worth spending so much money.

lol, go to CompUSA. Why not send him to Circuit City or Tweeter?

Depends on where he lives. Picking up the Harmony One if he can for $139 is a great investment for now and the future. And, fyi Circuit City, Compusa, and Tiger Direct are all the same;)

But I am sure you know that.

There are what, 4 or 5 CompUSA's still open? I was joking, b/c unless he is in that part of the country, there would be no way he would go to a CompUSA, unless he went to CompUSA.com, that would have been different. ;)

Thanks for your replies. But I'm from way up north in Toronto, Canada.

I got a Harmony 610 from Target for $79 and it's great and isn't even too complicated for the wife. Doesn't look like you have a Cable box or xbox but if you ever got one this unit has the red, blue, green and yellow colored buttons that coordinate with those pieces of equipment.

OMG, why hamstring the OP? I recommend the Harmony 700, which is the latest and greatest from Logitech. Activity-based, LCD display and superb ergonomics. Its only limitation is it can only control up to six devices, which is of no import to the OP. Going for about $120 on eBay right now. :)

Doesn't the PS3 need an RF remote or am I thinking of something else? Anyway I say the 550 if you can use it for the PS3.

i have harmony remotes in all my rooms now, and the harmony 520 seems to give the best bang. it can be had for under $50, it can provide full control for 12 devices, and it also has an lcd display.

but if you ever want to step up and get a top shelf remote i really like the harmony one, and 880 as well.

Thanks everyone for your input. I still might pull the trigger on the Harmony One. It just looks too sweet. And there are so many good reviews about it.

The OP said he was getting the Logitech PS3 adapter... that device accepts IR and transmits PS3 Bluetooth. ANY Harmony remote would work as far as that 'issue.'

(The OP may want to consider, instead, the IR4PS3.)

I bought one new for $60 shipped in March of this year. I was so impressed I bought another for the bedroom to replace the cheap HTiB remote that was failing fast. The refurb was $45 shipped and actually has a better screen than the HT room remote. Then I bought my son the Xbox 360 Harmony which is a 550 but a different color (white) and he loves it. I paid $47 shipped for the refurb.

Both refurbs I bought from Amazon.com and the new one I bought from P.C Richard.com.

Just get the Harmony One and be done with it. It is the best remote for the buck out there. If you go for a less expesive remote now you will someday grow frustrated with it just spend more to upgrade later.

So you are saying that I will grow frustrated with my $60, 15 device Harmony remote because I did not spend $199 on it? What if I spent $250 on a 550? Will that guarantee I never get frustrated?

Costco has new 880's on sale for less than $98. I was almost ready to try a refurb for a lot more. This seem's like a really good deal.

:D:D:D This is funny...

I can't tell you how many times I've read this same logic voiced about the very product you're touting.

I don't see the 880's on costco website but went to Omaha store and they had a huge stack of them. Call your local and see if they have em.

You can't go wrong with the Harmony One. It's a very nice remote especially if you can find it at a discount. If you really want something cheaper, the Harmony 550 is a very decent remote but I like the Harmony 720 a lot better. Personally, I don't like the 880.

All the remotes will program the same and function the same. Each just has different features like a color screen.

If you don't like the Logitech PS3 adapter, I use the PS3IR-1000 from www.schmartstuff.com and it works flawless.
