Using cambridge dvd 89 and also tried sony bd350 with standard dvd and had a grainy kinna crappy picture. {blu ray from the sony looked awesome}Set the cambridge @ 480i/and p and picture was awesome. I take it projector is now doing the scaling? Now my question is should i try the oppo bd83 would i get a better picture in dvd or just keep the cambridge. Does the oppo have better scaling than projector/ It kinna confuses me cause the cambridge looked very good upscaling on my old Sanyo z4 but ****** on the better viewsonic? {doesnt make sense} now with setting the cambridge @ 480i on the viewsonic it looks much better than the Sanyo.
On a another note i use the computer for HD files. How can i get the projector to do the scaling with the computer? What do i set res @. Or is compter gonna scale better?

I think the reason you are seeing less noise is the noise reduction default settings for the Pro8100. When feeding 480i/p to the pj, you'll notice that the noise reductions option(under Advanced) is no longer grayed out. Go into the settings and I bet you see TNR-low, MNR-low, and BAR-on(that's the way mine was). Turn them off and a lot of the noise comes back. You can play with the settings and see how much they really affect picture quality.. I found that HQV-NR-on had the greatest affect, but did lower detail a little bit.

I've spent a few days now comparing the scaling of the pj with my Samsung 2550(which is very good) and I can't see a difference. The Reon procesor doess an exceptional job. I'm now going to send it 480i or 480p for all my SD-DVD's and use varying amounts of noise reduction depending on the DVD.

For the comp, I don't know. I never tried to send it anything but 1920x1080. You can use Media Player Classic along with ffdshow and set whatever resolution you want the player to scale to.

The Viewsonic has an excellent HQV scaler. You won't get uch better in this price range.
