Jim McC 10-07-09, 11:26 PM There's no source for that info. convexion 10-07-09, 11:33 PM Haven't seen any info on long term reliability, but my VP4001 is still going strong after something like 7500 hours. In general I think you'll find DLP pjs will outlast LCDs. That's been my experience so far. In general I think you'll find DLP pjs will outlast LCDs. That's been my experience so far. Why would you say that? The less moving parts the better IMO The bulbs will always need cooling by fans but i would think an LCD would outlast a color wheel? wouldnt you? There's no source for that info. Yeah ive tried some searching and i couldnt find much. There was a bulb life post i remember some time back but i cant remember how i found it. SOmthing liek a bulb life shootout or somthing and a few people posted resetting their counter 2-3 times or somthing? gwlaw99 10-08-09, 10:36 AM Organic panels in LCDs and LCD polarizers seem to go bad more than color wheels. How long the new inorganic panels will last has not yet been determined. BowerR64 10-08-09, 12:49 PM Organic panels in LCDs and LCD polarizers seem to go bad more than color wheels. How long the new inorganic panels will last has not yet been determined. Is that the green and yellow blotch that ive seen on a few of them or is tha ta sign of a dirty or burn smoke from the bulb? burn from alot of use on the lenses or somthing? airscapes 10-08-09, 02:46 PM I have an HC3000 with over 4000 total hours on it and it is still going strong. convexion 10-08-09, 06:04 PM Why would you say that? The less moving parts the better IMO The bulbs will always need cooling by fans but i would think an LCD would outlast a color wheel? wouldnt you? As I said IN MY EXPERIENCE. The polarizers on the LCD projector I had went bad within 2 years where as the DLPs I've had have lasted far longer. I haven't had a DLP die on me yet. nomad139 10-08-09, 06:08 PM There's no source for that info. +1 Anything you get for a response will largely be based on people who have had a series of good/bad experiences with their particular purchases. No one purchaser here will have had enough experience to answer that question & there's nothing else out there that I'm aware of. eteller 10-08-09, 07:07 PM I'm on my third DLP, not sure if their any better or worse than LCD's but they sure don't seem to last as long as a TV set will. |
