Can someone recommend a solution for a single box that can record 4 channels of digital cable? It would also need to be able to display them all as well.

Or, a standalone device to record a single channel that has no monthly fees.

HD is not necessary but would be nice.

A decked out PC such as a Niveus Media Center could record 4-8 channels, but I believe Windows Media Center would only allow viewing one channel, unless I put a Media Center Extender on each TV.

Ideas!?

If you need to record digital cable channels, including HD cable channels, then the most economical solution would be PC running Windows 7 Media Center with 4x ATI OCUR cable tuners ($200-$250/ea). Each OCUR tuner would need a separate CableCard from your cable provider.

If you don't need this solution immediately, Ceton plans to release a quad CableCard tuner card in 1Q 2010 at $400-$600. This would support four digital cable channels at a time with a single M-CARD from the cable company.

You would then have a separate Xbox360 connected to each TV. Each Xbox360 can access the same guide and recordings; each Xbox360 can also tune and display a different liveTV channel.
