Before closing up my basement ceiling, I want to replace some old - and I mean 60+ year OLD - phone extension wiring & jack with CAT6, which I have in abundance.
Here's my question: do I wire each extension as a Home Run back to the jumble of wires that is the phone box? Or can I run them serially like romex?
Never done this before, and I couldn't find this exact issue with a search of the forum. I appreciate any help.

I would home run all of them for sure, it makes it alot better if you ever want to use the cat 6 for anything else in the future. It will work if you daisy chain but do yourself a favor and home run them.

Seconded.
You can do either, but home runs is the way to go. That way a problem with one wire does not take out more than one extension.

Home run...daisy chaining will only work for the phones. If you decide to go with a data or other network you'll need the home runs. Also, you could pick and choose what jacks are used for different puposes at a later date without re-wiring everything.
The up front cost is well worth the flexibility as you could run A/V, IR, data, intercoms, just about any low voltage applicaiton through cat6. If you've gotta buy it in bulk, you might think about adding additional runs to other places that may get some technology in the future.

Home runs and to a block. I would also tag each line as to end location.

Well, that seems pretty unanimous: daisy chain it is!
Just kidding.
Thanks for the help. Time to go pull some more cables.
