View Full Version : FIOS Screwing Consumers with Returns!
petersbar 10-08-09, 08:36 PM Someone redirect me if this has ben posted as I havent been on here a while. I have 4 STBS and some cable cards with Verizon FIOS.
you add - they charge right away as they deliver
you subtract - they lie about when their 3rd party receives the returned STBand dont credit you for months. they wont take them directly or theyd have to credit you. this has happened to me 3x now!!!
this has happened 3 times and the UPS stores openly say they know Verizon is doing it. class action suit, anyone? ready to bring the B*_*+ds to their knees. Comcast looking good once again.
best,
Barry
I assume, each time, you have kept the tracking number; then, when they haven't credited you, you have sent them a copy of the tracking results, showing when the cable box was delivered?
If so, then, you could first try complaining to your LFA (Local Franchising Authority), which, in SE PA, would be your municipality. If that fails, then I see a class action law suit as the next solution; assuming they are cheating you out of enough $ for it to be worth it.
videobruce 10-17-09, 08:29 PM you add - they charge right away as they deliverI have no idea what that is suppose to mean.you subtract - they lie about when their 3rd party receives the returned STBand dont credit you for months. they wont take them directly or theyd have to credit you. this has happened to me 3x now!!!Dito. Anyone translate this?
Why are you returning these?
It is simple, he means, when one adds a box, they immediately, correctly, start billing for the box rental.
However, when one returns a box, it goes to a third party, and then Verizon gets them from there; but they are claiming they aren't getting them, at least not for several months, so the billing continues.
Why is he returning the boxes?
Seriously, you need an answer for that.
I guess so. OK, so a given box could be defective, inferior specs. after a while, sold/gave away a TV in the home.

videobruce 10-18-09, 01:01 PM It is simple[I]f it was "simple", I wouldn't of had to ask. It should of read they way you wrote it.Why is he returning the boxes?
Seriously, you need an answer for that.Yes. Then why did he get them in the 1st place?
Return thenm directly to the local Verizon FIOS office.
petersbar 10-18-09, 03:41 PM sorry have been away. I had 5 DVRs. I swapped 1 for a reg STB and another I am using my QAM tuner. thats why I am returning.
Local Verizon office (Doylestown) will not take returns and has no way to credit account.
Happy ending though. FOund Joe at @FIOSTV on Twitter. It got escalated to SVP level and they are crediting my account.
I have another swap to do (returning 2 single stream cablecards for 1 multi). This is for cost and simplicity for those that must know. We'll see if they fixed to process or a 1-time fix. stay tuned.

thanks for translating my obviously incoherent statements.
I assume none of you have had similar experiences with returning?
[I]f it was "simple", I wouldn't of had to ask.
Just because you didn't follow it, doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't simple. Even the best of us, from time to time, don't follow relatively simple posts every time. In retrospect, though, it probably wasn't that simple, but easy enough to understand, at least after two readings, IMHO. Others may certainly disagree.:)
It should of read they way you wrote it.
Thanks.
Yes. Then why did he get them in the 1st place?
I wrote some possible reasons for that already.
"OK, so a given box could be defective, inferior specs. after a while, sold/gave away a TV in the home."
It turns out there was one more reason, which was the case, here, not wanting/needing as many DVRs and switching to a simple cable box (HD or SD) or a QAM tuner.
Return thenm directly to the local Verizon FIOS office.
Apparently, that wasn't an option, and it turns out it wasn't.
