Hi Guys,
I found some used Berklines for sale. I have a couple of questions:
1. Which model # are these? The best I can tell they are the 45004's, but I'm not certain.
2. Are they still in production?
4. Would I be able to add a 4th seat to the set without any difficulties?
5. How much $ are these new per seat?

Thanks!

1. You are correct. They are definitely the 45004's

2. They are still in production and are popular for the smaller footprint.

3. What happened to poor ol' #3? :)

4. Yes, you should be able to order a fourth matching chair. It will depend on the availability of the leather cover. You can check to make sure the leather is still available: Recline the chair and look at the tag under the ottoman to get the leather pattern #. It will be a 4 or 5 digit number and a vinyl match number (unless it is 100% leather). The color code will be 29 (Black). I would be glad to check the cover for you if you can send me the #'s from the tag or you can call Berkline.

5. Price will depend on options: Leather/vinyl, full leather, all vinyl, power recline or manual, buttkicker, etc.

Hope this helps.

Much thanks for the help Ken!

Hahaha...not sure what happened to 3! I think I had something else written and then deleted.:p

Are these 45004 good for someone in the 6'3 to 6'4", 200lb. range? Thanks!

They have a 41.5" back height. I am 6' tall with a longer torso (31" inseam) and am comfortable in that chair. You may want to look for something taller, though, especially if you are pushing 6'4". There are other Berkline models with a 44 or 44.5" back height (12003 is a good example). Those would be more suitable, but probably not available used from someone local like the deal you have found. If they are a close drive stop by and check them out.

J Ritt,

Would you be able to try them before buying? That is the best way to determine whether it will be a good fit for you, but I believe that (unless you are a long legged guy) this chair would not be a good fit for you. As Ken said look at the taller back recliners - 44'" or 44.5" ones.

Thanks guys. I'm closer to 6'3", but I do have a long inseam at 34". I'm more leggy, so these may work. I will have the opportunity to sit in them before purchase. I know a quick sit never really replicates a 3 hour movie unfortunately. My greatest fear is thinking they feel great at first brush, and then finding out they aren't quite right for me once they're home and in use. :o

They are a good deal though...I guess I'll just have to test drive them as best I can.

Thanks for the input. If I get them and need a 4th, I'll certainly contact one of you. :)

Do not forget - the best price you can get something for is not always the best deal...

Try them, and sit for at least 5-10 minutes to make sure that they will work for you just fine. Also try finding taller back recliners somewhere and try them as well, so at least you can compare...

Forgot to say, I really like the idea of the snack trays, storage compartments, and tall backs on those 12003's.

Even though these used 45004's appear to be a good deal, they aren't a good deal if they're not what I really want! I'd rather save some more money and make sure I'm happy since I'll probably have them for a number of years.

I decided to purchase the used 45004's. I took my wife for a test drive and we both really liked them. I was worried about the seat back height, but they seem to fit me pretty well. They were also in immaculate condition...looked like nobody had ever sat in them before. I'm picking them up tonight. Thanks for the input on these!

I do have a question about the buttkickers though. How do I hook them up to my receiver (Denon 3808). I currently run a Velodyne sub out of the SW pre-out. Where do I plug the buttkicker amp into my receiver? Do I just run it from the FL and FR pre-outs? Sorry for the dumb question, but I've never run any kind of external amp/add-on, etc.

This is the back panel of my receiver. Thanks guys!

You'll need to take a Sub out on your amp and hook it to your BK amp. If you do not have two Sub outs (one for your Subwoofer and the other for your BK amp), you'll need a 'Y' type splitter to split the signal. The photo is a little too small to tell how many sub outs you have. The BK amp takes a line level input as noted on the back of the amp. The wiring diagrams for wiring the amp to the BK's are available from Guitammer here: http://www.thebuttkicker.com/support/faq.htm

If your sub has pass through connection (line in/out), you can also hook up your buttkicker amplifier to the subwoofer line out.

Well, I should have listened to the pros (roman and ken)! After a few long movies with the 45004's, I'm finding that the backs aren't tall enough for me. My wife absolutely loves them, but they just won't work for me. If you are up around 6'4" like I am, you may want to look at other models like the 12003 or 45002. I'm going to end up with one of those sets. These are really beautiful seats, but they just don't give me the support I need. I'm putting them up for sale. Feel free to pm me if anybody wants to pick these up at a very nice price. Thanks.

We tried to tell you in a nice way. :)

The 12003 is a great seat and very reasonably priced considering the back height and that the tray table is included. The 45002 is an incredibly comfortable seat (Berkline's most comfortable in my opinion) but looks a little different. If you like how it looks, look no further for comfort. Its sister seat, the 45012, is available without the power headrest and power recline which brings the price down, obviously.
