Hello everyone, I'm not to technically savvy and I'm having a problem setting up my computers Media Center to my new cable box. I had my computer hooked up to my TV without a box and it worked fine. Now I just moved into a new place and got a cable box (Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250HDC) and I've been unsuccessful in setting it up.

I've went thru and hooked it up, and start the set-up process in the media center menu but none of the codes that media center gives allows the box to connect and change channels.

Before I had the cable out of the wall going to the splitter than one going into the PC and one going into the TV. Now if I get rid of the box would I have the cable out of the wall into a splitter, one line to the modem and one into another splitter then one to the TV and one to the PC?

Are any of you guys familiar with this set-up? I'm to the point where having the DVR capabilities of the media center outweigh the HD picture from the box. :(

Which output from your cable box are you using to connect to your PC's tuner card?
If Coax make sure your cable box is set to output over channel 3 or 4.
You cannot get HD from the box to your PC.
Is the cable box also a PVR unit?
