In two separate installations with a Benq w20000 projector, we have experienced image freeze. Both systems use the component video input, are using an Onkyo 806 receiver, and are watching DirecTV when the issue occurs.
Has anyone had this same issue?
Both customers have said that it happens on the apple commercials, or images with white backgrounds.
The fix seems to switch inputs, and then go back to the DirecTV source.
Audio continues when the image freezes on both systems.
We have replaced one of the systems with a JVC, and have had no issues since.
Hmmm, I am using a w5000 but have noticed not that the image freezes, but literally falls apart, with hdmi drop out. Connected to my yamaha rx-v661.
I did find if you have clone mode going setting it to ybpbcr 4:2:2, fixed the hdmi fall out, the issue seemed to come up when i switched it, and seemed to be a problem in the ati catalyst control panel.
The option does not seem to be available, unless my w5000 is being fed my computer display. Ati control panel reads my projector as a w20000 as well.
Just something to try.

My W20K would freeze the image just as you say, but would become unresponsive. After a few resets if would refuse to show picture at all, aside from a single white dot in the middle of the screen.
Had to send to BenQ (twice of course, because they never get things right the first time) to get it repaired.
The performance of BenQ's projectors for the price is fantastic, but the reliability and support is just terrible.
