Need advise on making a column that will have an SVS PC-13 Ultra subwoofer, a Paradigm adp3 surround speaker above that, and scone (light) above that. The sub will be on a 2x6 riser, and the ceiling is only 8.5 feet tall.

dimensions:

subwoofer: Approx. 16” diameter x 46" tall
surround: 33.7 cm x 35.9 cm x 19.1 cm
scone: ?

This is a basement, so I want all equipment up off the floor. Therefore the subwoofer needs a riser of some kind. I called SVS and asked them how far the sub has to be away from the wall, and they said to just experiment. Well, I can't do that, I need to build my columns first. Any suggestions?

My PC 13 Ultra is right up against the wall, though it is not in a column.

Can you post a drawing of your column plans? I think it will all depend on how open and unobstructed the sub is. You will need air flow.

It's also going to be a pretty big column. :)

My main PC is down, otherwise I would have posted a pic. I think I only need about 6 inches above the sub to satisfy it's needs.
