Hi, I recently bought 5.1 system, and looking for advice where to put it in my basement. Basement plan attached, with current speakers locations (I can move them if needed).
Fronts - Focal Chorus 816V
Center - matching from Focal, not yet received it.
Surrounds - Maurdent Shorts 903S (bipoles)
Sub - 10" from Maurdent Shorts as well.
AVR - Denon 1910.
Basement is almost empty, without acoustic treatment, with hardwood floor and 235 cm ceiling.
Surrounds are on the wall behind hearing position, on the ears level of the standing man.
One more question - if/when I move to 7.1, what is better solution - leave bipoles as surround backs and buy new surrounds and mount them on the side walls ? Or use bipoles as surrounds, and buy new (not bipole) speakers for back surrounds ?

Ok, now I repeat my question because - I'm going to order new pair of surround speakers, ERD-1 or Axiom Q8S. So - any recommendations for my setup ?

You are close to your surrounds in back or side placement.. I use dipoles for my close surround (left right in 7.1) (upgraded from direct) and I really like improvement.

Have Fun!

If you can I would reorient the seating and speaker placement. You have the one speaker awfully corner loaded and I doubt your AVR's EQ will straighten it out.

If you could move your speakers left along the 7.8 meter wall or if you could put them on the 5.4 meter wall and move the couch accordingly. Where the couch is currently you could put your equipment stack.

Can you post some 360 degree pics of the room?

@Jinjuku:
Unfortunately basement space is not dedicated HT room, it is shared with ping-pong, elliptical and other stuff. The setup where HT stuff allows other usages of the room is this.
Which speaker is "awfully" cornered - back left surround ? Or both ?
I thought that for bi-poles it is not that bad - anyhow we hear (should hear) only reflections from walls. Both surrounds are mounted 30-40 cm from the closest wall.
If you still think photos can help, I will shoot and publish them tomorrow.

Thanks for help
