I am having an issue with the audio on my new tv.

I just purchased a Vizio VF550M and I am running 3 HDMIs to the tv. 1 for U-verse cable, 1 for PS3 and 1 for Xbox360. I then run an optical out from the tv to my Yamaha receiver (my receiver does not have any hdmi imputs).

The issue is when watching cable, the receiver says that it is Dolby Digital, but for the PS3 and 360, it is Pro Logic II. I tried messing with all the settings on the TV, PS3 & 360 but am not able to get a Dolby Digital signal for the PS3 and 360. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

Also, I am aware that I can run the optical audio directly to the receiver from each device, but I am trying to minimize the number of cables that I use. Also, I don't want to buy the special Xbox HDMI cable that allows the HDMI & optical to be used at the same time.

Thanks for any help you are able to provide.

Most TV's will only output DD if using the internal tuner. All other souces will be sent as 2 channel PCM.

Yeah, there is probably no setting to change, most TVs are fixed on their outputs. If you want Dolby Digital, go direct from the consoles to the receiver. I understand wanting to reduce cables, but there isn't any choice.
