I am finishing up a built-in AV Cabinet in a wall that is only accessible from the front through a door. There will be open space above and below the cabinet for other things.

I would like to put in a fan to pull some of the hot air out of the space. I will put this fan on the ceiling of the cabinet which will blow into the space above it, and eventually out into our great room. The size of the space is roughly 3.5' high, 2' wide, and 2' deep.

How much air do I, or should I, be moving when the fan is on? I am thinking of the CAB-Cool from MA...but it is only 20 CFM. Is that enough?

Thanks for your help!!

Depends on what you have in the cabinet - The Cab-Cool piece is really meant for small furniture stands - Something like a receiver/cable/dvd set up - I think you may want to go with the closet cool if the components are going to be behind a closed door all the time..

Not much - a receiver, DVD, Satellite, Modem, that's about it...maybe a speaker selector. Above all that on the back wall will be a few small shelves for DVD movies...

I think I read somewhere that you should have 10 CFM per 100w - BUT, the receiver and sat box are the only equipment that will really get hot in your setup. That being said, the (1) cab cool should be enough..(unless you have everything crammed on top of one another without any air movement)

The closet is 14 Cubic ft, the cab cool is rated at 24 CFM, so I think you should be fine with that.

**I do not guarantee anything. :)
