Hi all,
I am redoing my HT to accomodate a 2.4 AR screen and figured I might as well add another row. I have two rows of sofas and always find myself running out of room. I want to add a table with three chairs for the third row. The second row with raiser is about 48" high so need a table that high and will buy bar chairs. I was wondering if any of you have any ideas/plans/pictures of your HT for such a table. I am open for the table top i.e., wood, glass or granite or marble.
As always, thanks in advance for your time and advice.

You will find many more examples of people who have built back bars as their third row seating. Here is mine you should also look at BuffBakers in the before and after thread.
Also for planning, bars are usually 42-43 inches high not 48. Regular bar stools will be a tad low for a 48 inch high table. But as you can see in my picture the bar doesn't need to be the entire height of the chairs in front.

Riser is a bit taller than most (12") and the main bar surface is only 40.25" off the floor with the higher surface being 48.25" off the floor.
More details here (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=15321289#post15321289)

I did a granite bar for my 3rd row. I built a frame for it out of 1.25" (i think) steel tubing. Mine was able to be lower since it sits on top of my riser and I was able to use counter height stools rather than bar height stools.
I was amazed at the different stools that are available... you really have to pay attention to the dimensions to make sure you are getting what you need.

Where did you get those stools? I've been looking for some like them.

They are a commercial bar stool made in Michigan.

I was able to order in my choice of finish and fabric.
I found a good sturdy bar stool at a bar and looked at the label. Then I got the name of a local rep from the company and he was happy to take my money. They come shipped direct from the factory. Think they ran about $150 each.
You can check out the sturdiness of the frame next time you go to a Baja Fresh restaurant. They have wood seats and backs on theirs but the frame is basically the same. Rock Solid.

i really don't like sitting on barstools so i built my third row up 8" and used rolling desk chairs like this. i also added littlites to see while the movie is on.

Ha! I found this thread while looking for bar row bar ideas. I grew up about a mile from MTS and my first computer chair (for my trusty TI99/4a) actually came from their overstock warehouse!
Good stuff there!
