So been thinking of getting an HT3000e. Having never had a DLP, I went to my local dealer to see any DLP to see if the RBE bothers me. He does not have Sim2 products but can get them. I looked at the Runco single chip (can't remember the model but it's about 4,500 bucks) and I could see RBE. This sucks cause Im wowed by the pop, but cant do the RBE. Anybody know if Sim2 has faster wheel, or any single chip dlp without RBE??
thanks

From what I have seen the 3000e and the Planar 8150 are the only single chips that are very good with RBE. I have never seen them on these.

I have noticed RBE on the HT3000E twice in the last 2 months I've spent with it, and both times I had to induce it (i.e. normal viewing habits and eye movements didn't reveal it). Having dealt with plenty of single-chip DLPs including an Optoma H79 and HD72, BenQ W5K/W10K/W20K, Planar PD7130, and now the Sim2, I can say that the Sim2 definitely takes the cake as far as lack of RBE. I find it just as watchable as the 3-chip JVCs that I've owned in the past.
I know I'm probably not the most unbiased source you could find, but it seems that responses have been sparse over here so I figured I'd pitch in my 2 cents.

Sim2 made some changes a while back that helped reduce RBE. A current HT3000e should be very good, so it would just be a matter of personal susceptibility.

I have the Marantz 11S2 it has an adjustable color wheel of 4,5 or 6x. At 6x I don't see the rainbows.
Remember, there's a difference between being able to see rainbows, and actually being bothered by them. I used to be a real RBE hater, until I actually spent a couple of weeks using a DLP in my own setup. Since then, I have only owned DLP's. There are just so many other advantages to the PQ, that to me, the RBE issue quickly faded. I've heard similar experiences from many others, who were bothered at first, but quite quickly stopped noticing. I do find them bothersome on 4X colorwheel pj's though, to the point that I can very quickly tell whether a pj has 4x, or 5-6x colorwheel. Still, I'm not leaving DLP until something that gets rid of RBE but still maintains the other advantages of DLP (i.e. LED-driven DLP) comes along. For the record, I am a PJ dealer, and spend most of my time watching a C3X, but RBE still doesn't bother me when watching (good) single-chippers. IMHO, if RBE on an HT3000 is a deal-breaking issue, you'll most likely find "deal-breaking issues" with any projector on the market anyway. The HT3000 is too good overall, to let RBE stop your fun, imho.
