Hello, I'm not too sure if this is THE right section to post this, but here goes (sorry if I'm not in the right section)

I own a Sony HDR-SR10 Handycam

When I export my videos from my camera to my computer, the sound seems like it's 90% right and 10% left, but only when I view it in my "videos" folder and when I post them on youtube. When I view them in the Software that comes with the camera my sound is in the middle

here is one of my clips, just so you can get a general idea

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFwGDT-Govg

So, just to recap the situation

Camera -> export to software -> view video in software = sound in middle

Camera -> export to software -> watch on youtube/windows media player/winamp = sound 90% right 10% left

please help :(

Might be related to the fact that the camcorder records in DD5.1, and at some point it is being downmixed to 2-ch for Youtube. If you have a means to do so, try downmixing to stereo instead of surround. It's the same as in a DVD player where you can choose between stereo and surround compatible 2-ch audio. I'm not sure if this or other ways to intervene in the audio are possible with the software utility, such as setting the surrouds to zero, but I think it's a good place to check.
