Looking to purchase a device to stream web content along with the playback features that my current WDTV can do (HDMI, 1080P, lots of video/audio format support). So far the WD-Live review aren't looking too promising.

What would give me the biggest bang for the buck with web features without compromising on the playback side.

If you live in Europe, you should check also Xtreamer! Until now, they deliver good support...

Don't quote me on this, but from what I've read so far (i've been doing some extensive research cause I want to buy one too) the Popcorn C-200 looks quite promising. It's half the price of an average HTPC and does the job quite well in terms of playback. Very important is the good support. Quite often firmware upgrades and by the time the second batch is out, I'm sure they'd figured out the wifi compatibility.

My problem is finding a good receiver that goes with it.

I would hold off on the C-200 until some of the bugs are worked out (I own one, you can see my review here (http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2009/09/22/popcorn-hour-c-200-review/)).

I haven't gotten my hands on the Xtreamer yet, but it does look promising. The Mede8er got good reviews as well (running Realtek), but hard to tell exactly where it is shipping to. I am in the process of testing out the myka (see unboxing here (http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2009/10/13/myka-digital-media-player-unboxing/)).

Dbone,
I agree with you, but as you said it yourself "...it played everything you threw at it...". Of course, they are still some bugs, but the frequent FW upgrades is what makes the device so much better than the rest.

Are you still unable to get HD audio from MKV files? This is pretty much the only reason why I am considering getting the C-200.
