I have these Ikea led lights for my home theater (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50119407). I'm trying to see if anybody knows any plug in product the type that allows you to controller lamp via remote control that would allow my to have control of these lights without having to get up to turn them on and off. They emit about 7 different colors at well.

The simplest and least expensive solution would be an X10 IR543 receiver and an X10 appliance switch (AM466/AM486). Many universal remotes have X10 IR codes in their database. If you have a learning remote, you could purchase an inexpensive X10 remote (UR19A/UR73A/UR74A) to tech the commands to your remote.

Check out the model numbers I listed on EB. You can probably get the 3 parts listed for under $30+shipping.

You can use the X10 unit to turn the lights off and on, that's it. There is no easy way to change the colors remotely.

I have seen people doing led light shows with their setups, how can they do that then?

I use the Zapper from Simerec (http://www.simerec.com).
