I have only one problem with my new WD Live is that I cant play .MKV files through it!
I have been told that I am accessing my media libraries and not network share folders thats why I cant play .mkv files.
How do I set up network share folders on my pc and how do I get my WD player to find them?
This is the only thing I need to figure out on this thing and I will be happy as a clam!
Thanks for any help you can give me on how to set this all up!
Normally, you right-click on the folder that you want to share and click on the share option. In linux, you have to install Samba and edit a text file. For windows here are a couple of tutorials:
(Sorry I can't seem to post links.. ) Do a google search on
howto sharing folders
Add your version of windows to the search if you want a more concise list.

I tried doing this but for some reason when I try and share folders every folder I try and share it just says "Your folder could not be shared" and thats it!?!?!?!
I have tried other folders and tons of different thing but nothing works? File sharing is on and ive done everything the walk throughs on google tell me to do but I still cant share?
Help!!!
Can you see other computers on you network if you click on Network places? Do you have permissions to share a folder? I use linux and my work computer doesn't allow sharing so I can't be much help... but if you want help, we need a little more info:
1. What version of Windows are you using
2. Describe your network... what is the computer connected to is it a switch or a hub or a router with ports?
3. Can you log in as administrator?
4. Can you see other computers on your network such as the WDTVLive?
