I dont have very much experience with projectors and I need some help picking one out

Currently I have a Sharp XG-P25X that was given to me last week. I put it in my garage and painted the wall with some Silver Screen paint from Home Depot, that was mentioned on the diy section of this forum..

I know its an old projector but this thing is pretty nice. I believe when it was new back in 2002 the MSRP was $6999. It gives off a really good picture as far as i am concerned, considering the age. Except for some sort of artifacts on the screen when it displays an all black screen.
They are only noticeable when its on a all black screen. Also, There is a Blue pixel at the bottom of the screen.. Just one. IDK

I dont know what it is or if I can somehow clean it out to alleviate the issue artifact issue.

Unfortunately the bulb has 1370 hours on it when I got it and it only has a 1500hr bulb I think.

Could the mirrors inside be dirty or something?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I was thinking about getting a new projector.. how would the Optoma HD20 / Panny PT-AX200U / Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720 compare to the current projector I have? Im guessing these new ones would blow that old one away, and if thats the case, then a sub $1500 projector is all i need.

Thanks

I guess no one knows anything about this one?

I am not familiar with this piece, but are you sure it is DLP (referring to the mirror comment)? I only ask because it would be highly unlikely that you would get a stuck blue pixel. That would be much more common on an LCD.

Regardless, if it is a pixel, there is nothing that can be done.

You may want to check for a dust filter that can be changed. More recent LCD models may have small holes to help blow dust off of the LCD panels themselves, but I'd be surprised if a 2002 vintage LCD had these, even a large-venue PowerPoint monster like this one.

If the blue spot is large, it might be a dust blob instead of a pixel. Usually pixels that are out/stuck are pretty distinct (especially if you get close to the screen).
