Let me start by saying I'm a newbie to HT stuff. With that being said Ive read through some past posts to find some information. I didn't seem to stumble across what I was looking for. Sorry If it has been asked before.

My Setup:
Sony KDS55A2000 1080P TV
Onkyo TX-SR606 Receiver
PS3 connected HDMI
Wii connected component
HD Direct TV connected HDMI
Vudu Player connected via HDMI

Speaker Setup:

Klipsch Synergy Series F-2 Main
Klipsch Synergy Series C-2 Center
Klipsch Synergy Series S-2 Surrounds
Klipsch Synergy Series Sub10 Sub
*Plan to add 2 more Klipsch Synergy Series S-2 for surround back speakers eventually.

After running the auto setup on the receiver I get these results in the speaker configuration page.
Sub Yes, Front Full Band,Center 150Hz,Surround 100Hz, LPF of LFE 80Hz, and Double Bass On

Does that seem correct for the speakers I have?

In the level calibration page on the receiver I get results of
Left -10 dB
Center -11dB
Right -9 dB
Surr Right -3dB
Surr Left -2dB
Subwoofer -11dB

I'm not sure why the sub comes back as that. I would think it would be a higher number. Do I need to adjust something on the sub? Or does that seem to be alright. How about the rest of the settings they sound alright. When playing the test tone on each speaker and cycling through them they seem to transition nicely from one speaker to another, and I'm assuming that is alright. You dint want your sounds to be pin pointed.

I have read previous posts that the sub should be set on the highest setting for the LPF, and the gain should be around the 9 to 11 o'clock position? Phase 0.Is that correct. I didn't have them set at that prior to the auto setup. Should I set the sub at them settings and redo the setup?

With all that being said im sure I forgot to list something you pros will need to know to steer me in the right direction. Sorry for the long post, and I hope someone can get me on the right track. Thanks for any help you may have, It is greatly appreciated!!

Turn the gain knob of the sub up a bit and rerun the setup. You want to try for a 0dB setting for the sub, and let the other speakers fall will they may. Once completed, go back and set all your speakers to Small rather than having any at Full Band.

How do I set to them to small? I have been looking in the setup menu and having no luck. I also cant seem to find the manual at the moment. Thanks Again for the reply!!

Subwoofer -11dB

I'm not sure why the sub comes back as that. I would think it would be a higher number. Do I need to adjust something on the sub?Keep in mind that the sub has its own volume control. The receiver’s auto set up will base its adjustment on what you have set the sub’s gain at. If you turned the sub’s gain down and then re-ran the auto set up, you’d see the -11 figure raised to -6 (or whatever). Either way, the sub level relevant to the other speakers will be the same.

How do I set to them to small? I have been looking in the setup menu and having no luck. I also cant seem to find the manual at the moment. I’m sure you can get a copy of the manual at Onkyo’s site.

On an Onkyo receiver the speaker can usually be set to the proper cross over in the speaker configuration menu. Onkyo does not use the term small or large in their menu. The speaker is either full band, or a cross over setting of 40hz, 50hz, 60hz, 70hz, 90hz, 100hz, 120hz, 150hz, or 200hz, can be picked for a small setting. In my opinion I would set all of this up by hand and forget about letting the receiver do it for you. I personally don't like auto set up, but if you are most comfortable with this than go with it.

Thanks for the information. I set my front speakers to 80hz, is that to high or to low? My front speakers are klipsch synergy F2 floorstanders. Thanks

I looked for some information on your mains and I believe they are rated down to 39hz. Having them crossed at 80hz maybe fine. I would try crossing them lower and higher to see if it sounds better or not. My mains go down to 60hz and that is what I have the cross over set at in the receiver. Setting your cross over at 80hz should make your sub cover more bass than setting it at 50hz. Many people with full range mains don't run them full range. They often cross them higher and let the sub cover the bass. This often sounds better. The sub tends to do a better job. Experiment and do some careful listening. Good luck.

Find your owner's manual here:

Read pages 38, 72, and 73. Turn Double Bass "OFF" and leave it off.
