Sick! Really cool how you can configure everything on the fly and for multiple platforms.

This will help people who bitch about the PS3 being "hard to develop for".

Hey Crytek, send Valve a copy.

Every so often a developer engine is revealed that makes you wonder how anyone in the world could improve upon it. It happened when Epic Games first revealed Unreal Engine 3 and it happened again when gamers got a glimpse of Killzone 2 action. However, none of these engines have ever provided the jaw dropping effect that the CryEngine 3 has created for me. Dispatched in a press release earlier, CryTek let it be known that their new engine would not only change the face of games development, but it would help a developer create games for a console it had never done so on before.

An excerpt from the press release reads, “With its scalable graphics and computation it is next-gen-ready and with new features like CryEngine 3 Live Create the best choice for game developers and companies developing serious games applications alike,” trumpets Crytek boss Cevat Yerli. “It is the only game engine solution that enables real-time development and can ensure teams are able to maximize their own creativity, save budget and create greater gaming experiences.”

Pity the super nice shots weren't on current console hardware. But more solid engine choices is never a bad thing. Hopefully this will allow some of the smaller studio's tog et into PS3 and 360 development in a big way.

New engines are always great, but no fanfare until I see actual PS3 games running on it instead of a controlled tech demo.

Here's a low quality video (http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/articles/1014410/gc-2009-cry-engine-3-demo/videos/gcom09act_crytek_demo2_081709.html) of the PS3 version of the tech. For a multi-platform engine, it does look pretty nice. Hopefully some of the underachieving developers pick it up since it really shows some promise. You can tell they put a lot of effort into the PS3 version of it based on comments at the end of the clip.

Although I do the way crysis looks like and the engine in general is pretty impressive I will stay hesitant... I want to see an actual developer use that engine and see the final result. I really hope that cryengine is all that.
