When I was just about done with my home theater, my wife suggested that we add a karaoke machine. We purchased a karaoke reciever, some wireless mics, and attached a discreet monitor to the rear wall. If I had thought about karaoke prior to the build, I would have done a few things differently, but the one thing that really stands out is the lack of stage lighting.
My wife and I are planning a karaoke themed Halloween party, and we'd love to have some sort of theater lighting when people take the stage (located on the screen wall).
Right now, the theater is mainly lit by two zones: one zone is for the sconces on the walls, and the second zone handles a 4 x 3 grid of canister lights above. (There are 2 other zones, but they handle the rear of the theater and rope lights around the 2nd row seating riser).
My current solution is to just unscrew 10 of the 12 canister lights, leaving the two lights on that are directly over the stage. Those lights, combined with the sconces, throws enough light in the room and puts the focus on the stage. It's not ideal, but it works.
I'm wondering if there are any other temporary lighting solutions. I do have another outlet on the ceiling near the projector which may lend itself to a ceiling mount spotlight of some sort, but I'm nervous about purchasing a spotlight that may just blind the person on the stage. I'm also open to any other "corded light with a stand" type solutions that I could place somewhere else in the room.
Any suggestions?
