View Full Version : KMart Theater Chairs
I'm still a proud owner of four K-Mart theater chairs. All of them are doing great with no problems.
Who else bought these K-Mart chairs and are they still available?
Looks like it ...

These look temping. I've been looking on craigslist for 8 cheap matching chairs for months but haven't found anything.
Did you buy them in store or online?
Are the 1 arm chairs reversible? It mentions forming a loveseat in the description, so I'm assuming they are.
WakJob -
I can testify these are wonderful chairs! Very comfortable. They have three positions for recline - from regular sitting position, to slight recline with foot rest up to full recline (for those long movies) with foot rest up. The material is very durable too. We had a good conversation about these chairs at the beginning of the year and it was with rave reviews.
I personally picked up four chairs from a K-mart locally. Be warned - the boxes are pretty big, so don't even think of trying to squeeze these in a backseat of a car. You'll need a pickup truck or a SUV hatchback.
I've had my chairs for 10 months with no problems. Great deal! I would definitely buy these again.
I'm not sure if the one-arm is reversible. Check your local K-Mart for a floor model.

oman321 10-16-09, 10:52 AM That's one mighty big can of Red Bull!!!:D
These look temping. .
I agree. I’m planning Home Theater V2.0 and would like to have 12 seats but what I’ve seen so far would cost over $10,000. With these it would be less than $4,000.
Very tempting.
By the way, those photos were taken back in February 2008. My theater is finished. Yes, that's a huge can of Red Bull. It makes a great drink container and has a empty spout on the bottom to drain ice water at the end of the party.
mtbdudex 10-16-09, 04:23 PM Are these power or manual?
I just posted here why I'd NOT buy manual again so curious these.

Terminator840 10-16-09, 04:27 PM There is another thread on here about these chairs with lots of pics. I have 5 of these in my HT. I bought 3 of them back last winter and 2 more a few weeks ago. Wait for them to go on sale before you buy, because they go on sale all the time, down to $199 for the one arm chairs.
So Terminator, can you provide any guidance as to whether or not the one arm is reversible? It would be great to have a true loveseat or three seat couch.
Fabricator 10-17-09, 09:41 AM i checked em out a lil while back. for the money, they are nice.
kingranch51 10-20-09, 12:46 AM I purchased six of these a while back to put in my theater. So far they are still in the boxes glad to see they are still holding up! I will post some pics when I get mine in.
I have four that are a year old this month with zero problems :)
blackbelt 10-22-09, 10:16 PM I have seven of them for almost a year now going strong.

I don't think it is without serious modifications. The easiest way to make a love seat would be take a 2 arm and disassemble it.
Lizardgi 10-23-09, 03:06 PM I picked up two a few weeks ago and so far they've been great. We're waiting for another 1 arm chair to be in stock again so we can make it three.
For the price, these cannot be beat. The 'wow' factor of having nice chairs is worth it alone when company comes over.
I have to agree however, the boxes are huge. We could only fit two boxes into an empy Toyota Sienna van with all seats down/ removed. There is no way the box would fit into any car.

So, I assume these are manual, not powered, right?
ToHell, correct. However, the glide mechanism is very smooth.

Ha ha, thx for not calling me UGA (not sure why most pick that part when they shorten my username).
Anyway, may have to take a look at these. Kinda wanted powered seats, but I want to keep my options open. It'll be a long while before I actually need them, though.
SpyGuy311 10-25-09, 08:19 AM The dimensions list these as 33in L x 37in W x 41in H, but the 1 arm version lists as 28in L.
So is it 33" wide and 37" deep? 41" height would be nice, and 33" wide is nice space saving.
There should be a warning label on these chairs: Comfort may result in falling asleep during movies.
ToHellWithUGA 10-25-09, 11:54 PM Any idea how these would compare to 3 year old Berkline microfiber 090-c53/c54/c52's for a similar price (supposedly excellent condition)?
shaneotool 10-27-09, 01:31 PM How far does the seat go back when you recline?
I guess a better way to ask is - how close could I put these to a wall without hitting it when I recline?

To be safe the back feet need to be about 22"-23" away from the wall.

Dang - I was hoping around a foot. Thanks for the info
True, it would be nice if it had a wall-away feature. I agree, 22" is needed behind the chairs for full recline ... and by full recline, I mean your body is almost horizontal.
curtishd 10-27-09, 07:16 PM I have 3 and they are about a year old. As far as comfort yes they are comfortable BUT I have sat in more comfortable theater seats but they usually cost at least twice as much. For the price you can not go wrong, I have kids jumping on them from one to another (they actually jump on them like a bed) and they have not broke and are solid. My biggest complaint is the cup holder need to be bigger but they seams to be a common problem on all theater seats.
Chris Ruhl 10-28-09, 12:11 AM I have 6... One year in. I haven't used them a whole heck of a lot, but I'm very happy with them so far.
Have set of 6, purchased on sale for <$1000. Have had 8 months. For the money -- nothing can touch them. They look nice and are comfortable enough for a long movie.
