hi i have an olevia 32" lcd tv, its about 2 years old and when i first bought it it did not come with a antenna connector or tuner. the connector so i can connect my dish network into. I got a dvd recorder with a tuner in it so can be able to connect my dish network cable in, the rf or coaxial cable i believe its called. but the dvd player just died on me so i am looking for an alternative route to getting my dish network connected. i have done some googling but it's hard to find anything because olevia has gone out of business and there isn't much out on the tv. can't seem to find a dvd player also with the tuner that's needed, any suggestions?
What are the model numbers of your equipment?

Um, maybe I'm missing something, but doesn't your Dish Network go through a box to tune channels? There should be more outputs than just a 75 ohm antenna output, right? If so, you would connect the best output set (HDMI, composite, s-video or component) directly to your TV.

If it's using the second tuner output from one of their dual-tuner models (which they run to the other room by coax as standard), you need an NTSC tuner in the TV to tune in the modulated signal (the default is set at RF channel 60, I believe).
You should be able to use any recorder with an NTSC tuner in place of it, I would think. Just make sure it's set to whatever channel the modulated output from the tuner is set at - and like I said - unless you've ever changed it, the default is set at channel 60 (I'm pretty sure that's what mine came set at - that's what I'm using now, anyway). But you should go into the tuner menu and make sure to see what it's set at - sometimes the installer changes it. You can also change it if you find that a particular channel works better - just make sure that and the recorder are set on the same one.
For a DVD recorder with an NTSC (analog) tuner, I'd recommend the Panasonic EZ28 - it's the best one currently out there. But if you can get ahold of a free VCR, that should work, also.
